Palo Alto Networks and Google Cloud extend their partnership to make Cloud Adoption easier and safer

Palo Alto Networks and Google Cloud introduced Cloud IDS (Intrusion Detection System), a co-developed network threat detection service to help cloud clients solve crucial network security concerns.

Cloud IDS, powered by Palo Alto Networks’ industry-leading threat detection technology, offers Google Cloud users simple, managed, cloud native network-based threat detection in just a few clicks. The new service is the outcome of a year-long collaboration between Google and Palo Alto Networks, with the goal of integrating Palo Alto Networks’ best-in-class security with Google Cloud’s easy, safe, and scalable network.

“Businesses are betting on the cloud for their most important initiatives, and one of the most fundamental factors to their success will be security. We’ve had a tremendous strategic partnership with Google over the past three years that helps ensure that our joint customers can have a simple, secure journey to the cloud. This service takes that to new levels,” said Nikesh Arora, chairman and CEO of Palo Alto Networks.

“Customers demand uncompromising security that is simple to deploy and easy to manage. We built Cloud IDS to address these requirements, by bringing together Palo Alto Networks best-in-class security with Google’s secure and scalable infrastructure. This is one of the many ways Google Cloud and Palo Alto Networks are partnering together to deliver solutions that solve our customers’ security challenges,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.

Detecting attacks has been a big barrier for cloud network security teams until now, resulting in security policy compliance issues and security operations center blind spots. Cloud IDS is easy to set up and deploy, IDS is a way to acquire deep insight into network-based threats and serve industry-specific security compliance goals for enterprises who desire an easy path to network threat detection.

Google Cloud and Palo Alto Networks have teamed up to protect clients’ applications and data while migrating to the cloud as smooth as possible. Palo Alto Networks’ VM-Series Virtual Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) was the first Palo Alto Networks product to be supported on Google Cloud in 2018, and the two companies have subsequently created other product integrations. Customers can use a collaborative security reference architecture to secure their Google Cloud environments using best practices, according to the firms. Palo Alto Networks was also named Google Cloud Technology Partner of the Year for 2021 this week, a designation it has held for the past three years.
