Microsoft Launches Defender for Google Cloud Platform!

Microsoft has announced that their defender for cloud protection is now available for Google Cloud Platform environments as well. Threat detection and security warnings are ensured across all clouds because of this. Because many firms use a hybrid cloud solution, this benefits most consumers. Defender for Cloud is a Microsoft security product that discovers and alerts vulnerabilities in protected multi-cloud and hybrid settings monitor cloud services for threats and offer recommendations to improve security.

However, the group’s ability to support cloud solutions has been limited thus far. Another amazing partner is on the way in the form of the Google Cloud Platform or GCP for short. Microsoft revealed native multi-cloud compatibility for Amazon AWS at the Ignite 2021 conference just a few weeks ago.

Microsoft Partner Group Program Manager Gilad Elyashar revealed that Microsoft Defender for Cloud now supports Google Cloud Platform natively with CSPM and CWP capabilities, eliminating the need for Google 1st party tools.

With the addition of AWS and GCP support, businesses can now use Defender for Cloud to get a quick overview of the security health of their multi-cloud environment using Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), all from one place in the Defender for Cloud portal. Microsoft is now the only cloud provider that offers native multi-cloud protection for the industry’s top three platforms, thanks to GCP support.

TSB Golden Gate Release Helps Developers Configure Policies For Their Applications

Tetrate declared the general availability of Tetrate Service Bridge (TSB), Golden Gate release.

API Gateway, a web application firewall (WAF), and service mesh capabilities are all combined into a single administration plane in this latest edition, resulting in a cloud-agnostic unified application connection platform.

TSB delivers centralized governance and decentralized enforcement to application networking by unifying these capabilities—essential for enabling zero-trust security across historical and new workloads.

The Envoy-based application networking layer from TSB blurs the lines between north-south and east-west traffic, making it all just application traffic. From the edge to the workload, developers may now apply capabilities previously only available in an API gateway to any element of their application topology. API Gateway and a comprehensive set of API governance tools are included in the TSB Golden Gate release out of the box.

Developers may find it difficult to gain access and understand how to configure application-specific network and security policies, which can have a negative impact on productivity. Simultaneously, networking and security teams lack the resources necessary to enforce policy demands and ensure that they are followed. This misalignment of access and knowledge results in non-compliant networking and uneven policy enforcement, which leads to security breaches.

With the Golden Gate version, TSB now allows developers to create policies for their applications without having to grasp the complexity of new technologies like Envoy and Istio while yet harnessing their potential.

CEO, and co-founder of Tetrate, Varun Talwar said, “Application architectures are increasingly becoming distributed in nature. When combined with the need for multi-cloud infrastructures, application networking, and security policies, management becomes a complex problem. TSB elegantly simplifies this challenge with its management plane, a layer that binds the runtime system to the users and teams. Enterprises can implement controls for regulatory requirements with confidence and maintain many unrelated teams on the same infrastructure without shared-fate outages.”

Starburst Announced Saas Product Galaxy To Solve Cross-Cloud Analytics Challenges, Giving Access To Data Anywhere

Starburst, an analytics anywhere firm, announced the industry’s first cross-cloud analytics solution with the latest instalment of its SaaS product Starburst Galaxy announced it at AWS re:Invent, hosted by Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS). This most recent version of Starburst Galaxy, first released in February 2021, now enables clients to query data across cloud platforms smoothly without compromising speed or access.

“Analyzing data across cloud providers is a growing concern for enterprises as data is increasingly generated and stored in multiple clouds, as well as on-premises data centers. Starburst is at the forefront of helping enterprises address this issue with its Starburst Galaxy managed service, which enables SQL queries to be federated across data stored in cloud object stores and data warehouses, on multiple clouds, without data movement,” said Matt Aslett, Vice President and Research Director at Ventana Research.

As a result of this year’s rapid digitization, countless companies are now using multiple cloud providers. Until now, running a business on multiple cloud providers’ platforms has been inefficient due to data access issues and pricing. Clients can now operate efficiently on AWS and other major cloud providers with Starburst Galaxy, removing data silos and challenges of the past.

“Many vendors make their products available in each of the major cloud providers and refer to them as ‘multi-cloud.’  Starburst is taking the industry to a new frontier, as the first to offer “cross-cloud” analytics, enabling SQL joins across tables living in different clouds. At Starburst, we believe you should own your own data and have the freedom to decide where it lives. With Galaxy, we’re excited to bring the first cross-cloud analytics SaaS platform to market, and proud to say it includes native security features, a flexible consumption model, and a great user experience,” said Justin Borgman, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Starburst.

“Starburst and AWS are working together to provide a seamless, easy-to-access architecture across the cloud environment to meet customers’ demands in today’s modern, cloud-first workforce. Starburst Galaxy on AWS empowers organizations across industries with a cloud-based managed service that streamlines the querying and analysis of data so companies can quickly make data-driven decisions,” said Sabina Joseph, General Manager, Technology Partners at AWS.

Cloud analytics is offered by other vendors in the data analytics industry, but the Starburst Galaxy offering is significantly different. Until now, there has been no other architecture in the market that addresses these issues of cross-cloud analytics.

“We’re very excited about the future of Starburst Galaxy and cross-cloud analytics. The demand for an intuitive, easy to use platform where our customers can query across their cloud infrastructure is very high. Starburst Galaxy opens the door to meet this demand and help companies gain new insights that were previously impossible in the time they were needed,” said Michael Cesino, President at Visible Systems Corporation.

Fugue and CWS Team Up to Solve Enterprise Cloud Security Gaps with End-to-End Policy as Code Enforcement

CWS, an IT services firm that helps large, highly regulated companies migrate to the cloud, has teamed up with Fugue, a cloud security SaaS company, to provide developer-first cloud security for mission-critical and time-sensitive cloud deployments. Fugue’s SaaS platform secures cloud infrastructure throughout all stages of the software development life cycle by employing the same infrastructure controls as code checks and the cloud runtime environment. CWS and Fugue have teamed together to focus on delivering safe cloud infrastructure quickly, starting with a large telecoms firm and resulting in a 90 percent faster deployment with half the engineering staff.

“Time and again we see critical cloud initiatives get bogged down in time-consuming enterprise security processes that kill development velocity. After evaluating a number of tools, Fugue was the only one that addressed cloud security end-to-end using the same set of policies, reducing delivery times for security-critical cloud infrastructure from months to days and requiring only a fraction of the engineering investment previously needed,” said Rajat Sharma, founder of CWS.

“Security is the rate-limiting factor for how fast enterprises can go in the cloud, and key to changing this is developer-centric security based on policy as code and automated enforcement.  CWS has a track record of helping engineering teams innovate fast in challenging regulatory environments, and we’re thrilled they’ve chosen Fugue as their platform for operationalizing cloud security across the software development life cycle,” said Josh Stella, co-founder and CEO of Fugue.
